Guy Bennett Rubin

Guy has been a trial lawyer since 1987, handling hundreds of cases through trial at the highest levels in our legal system in the state and federal courts. He has achieved numerous 7 and 8-figure settlements and verdicts during his 37-year career. These cases often involve claims by parents for the loss of their children to negligence and police misconduct. Guy is particularly attuned to representing families who have lost a child. Many times, these cases involve highly charged and emotional issues. Guy prides himself in being able to speak to a jury about the magnitude and amplification of a loss involving a lifetime of pain, suffering, and mental anguish. Cases concerning the lost affection of a child, husband, wife or parent are nearly always accompanied by economic and emotional damages.

Most recently, Guy represented a family who lost a child due to the negligence of the Florida state fair and the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office. A federal jury awarded the boy’s parents $15 million for their losses. In another recent case, Guy similarly settled a case against two hospitals and numerous doctors due to their negligence (medical malpractice) in rendering a woman brain-dead (comatose) during an elective surgery. The surviving husband and six daughters will never need to work again unless they choose to do so.

Guy manages and mentors the lawyers, paralegals and other professional staff of the law firm, providing guidance and sharing his experience over five decades in the law, first at his father’s side, and then leading his own law firm.

Guy is a member of the Florida Bar, the Federal District Courts for Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta and is a member of numerous trial lawyer associations and charities. He is a graduate of Florida State University (BS) 1983 and Nova Southeastern Law School (JD) 1987. He is happily married, has two adult career-driven daughters, a groovy grandson, a dog named Ruby and a cat named Indy. Guy’s activities outside work include pickleball, scuba diving, boating, hiking, and traveling. He is an aspiring chef and has a great love of music, sports & technology, food, wine and spirits.
